Tertiary Education Network (TENET) was founded in 2000 by the Committee of Technikon Principals and the SA Universities Vice-Chancellors' Association. TENET's main purpose is to secure, for the benefit of South African technikons and universities, Internet and IT services.

The Council for Geoscience (CGS) is one of the National Science Councils of South Africa, boasting excellent facilities and expertise, ranking among the best in Africa.

The National Disaster Management Centre seeks to ensure that disaster risk reduction measures and strategies are factored into the Integrated Development Plans of municipalities.
