ALC 2007 African Leadership Conference
on Space Science & Technology for Sustainable Development
Pretoria, South Africa, 2-5 October 2007
BUILDING AFRICAN PARTNERSHIPS IN SPACE
Space technology is an indispensible tool for the development of Africa. A growing number of African countries are implementing national space programmes with a strong developmental focus. Since many of Africa's developmental challenges transcend national, cultural and linguistic differences, the collective impact of these national space programmes can be greatly enhanced through cooperation. It is against this background that the 2nd African Conference on Space Science and Technology for Sustainable Development will focus on the theme "Building African partnerships in space."
The first Conference in this series was hosted by the Government of Nigeria in Abuja from 23 - 25 November 2005. This Conference brought African countries together to share information on their space-related activities and to raise awareness of the important contribution of space technology to the development of Africa. The report of the first conference is available here.
The deadline for applications to present a paper was 21 September 2007.
